Cruise and Scottish Ballet present – “Fashion en Pointe”
To recognise the influence of fashion design within the world of dance, Cruise has collaborated with Scottish Ballet to present an exclusive exhibition throughout the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival, which highlights the link between these visual arts.
Cruise are showcasing four costumes from Scottish Ballet’s recent production Cinderella. The outfits, which are designed by Anthony McDonald, will be displayed alongside the ready to wear collections of both Westwood and Galliano, to illustrate the relationship between dance and fashion.
The exhibition opens for public viewing at 11.30am in Cruise Woman, 31 Castle Street on Wednesday the 26th of April and runs until Sunday 30th April.
Launch Event
Ashley Page, Creative Director of Scottish Ballet, will be launching the “ Fashion en Pointe” exhibition in Cruise Woman, 31 Castle Street with an intimate in talk session to discuss the influences he draws from the world of fashion.
This unique event will be preceded by a luxury breakfast in Oloroso, where guests can choose from a specially selected fashion menu before progressing to Cruise to for the exhibition launch and in talk session with Ashley Page.
Ashley, who is renowned for challenging and diffusing the boundaries that exist between classical and contemporary dance, has worked on occasion with Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano, both of whose collections are stocked in Cruise Edinburgh. The voluminous shapes and artistic drapery synonymous with both of these designers can be seen to influence not only the movement and choreography of Page’s work.
